Hope was raised in New York City by a "brilliant seamstress and tailor" mother who taught her to crochet at a young age [1] and a father who enthusiastically encouraged her interest in science fiction.Akua Lezli Hope is a creator and wisdom seeker who uses sound, words, fiber, glass, metal, and wire to create poems, patterns, stories, music, ornaments.
She created the historic, groundbreaking, first anthology of BIPOC speculative poetry, NOMBONO, published by Sundress Publications (October ) and edited the largest ever issue of Eye to the Telescope on The Sea (October ).
